The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is one of Hungary’s most prestigious and fully funded programs, designed to support talented international students in pursuing higher education at top Hungarian universities. The program offers generous financial support, world-class academic opportunities, and a multicultural study environment.
Founded in 2013, the scholarship is managed by the Tempus Public Foundation under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and is available to students from more than 70 partner countries across five continents.

Scholarship Coverage (Fully Funded)
1. Tuition-Free Education
- Complete exemption from tuition fees for the entire duration of the program.
2. Monthly Stipend
- Bachelor’s, Master’s & One-tier Master’s:
HUF 43,700/month (approx. EUR 130) for 12 months a year. - Doctoral Programs:
- HUF 140,000/month (EUR ~450) for first 4 semesters
- HUF 180,000/month (EUR ~580) for final 4 semesters
3. Accommodation Support
- Free dormitory placement OR
- HUF 40,000/month accommodation allowance.
(Note: In big cities, this may not cover full rental costs.)
4. Medical Insurance
- Full health-care services according to Hungarian law
- Additional private medical insurance worth HUF 65,000/year (EUR ~205)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
General Requirements

- English language proficiency (for English-taught programs)
Sending Partner Requirement
- Applicants must be nominated by their country’s designated authority.
(Sending Partners include Pakistan, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Indonesia, Turkey, Japan, China, Morocco, Thailand, and many more.)
Language Requirement
- IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent proof
- OR proof that previous studies were completed in English
Required Documents
Applicants must upload clear scanned copies:
1. Application Form
Filled online in English.
2. Recent Photograph
Taken within the last 2 years.
3. Motivation Letter
- Minimum 1 page
- Times New Roman, 12pt
- Written in the language of the chosen program
4. Educational Certificates & Transcripts
Based on study level:
- Bachelor applicants: High school certificate
- Master applicants: Bachelor degree
- Doctoral applicants: Master degree
- Non-degree applicants: Relevant qualification
Translations required if documents are not in English or Hungarian.

Issued after 15 November 2021, confirming applicant doesn’t have:
- Hepatitis A/B/C
- HIV/AIDS
- Any epidemic disease

- Research Plan (min. 2 pages)
- Two Recommendation Letters (different referees)

Step 1: Choose Your Program
- Check eligible programs for your country on the Stipendium Hungaricum website.

Step 2: Contact Your Sending Partner
Each country has its own:
- Deadline
- Requirements
- Nomination procedure
(E.g., ministry of education, Hungarian embassy, etc.)
Step 3: Register & Upload Documents
- Apply online
- Select maximum 2 programs
- Upload all required documents
- Doctoral applicants must find a supervisor
Step 4: Submit Before Deadline
Make sure all sections are completed before January 15, 2026.
Step 5: Nomination by Sending Partner
- Best applicants are nominated and forwarded to universities.
Step 6: University Entrance Exam
- Conducted between March – May
- Minimum 56/100 score required for the final selection.
